Fernando Sanz Pinto was born in Faro, in the south of Portugal, to a Portuguese father and a Spanish mother, both from families with strong naval traditions.

Based in the coastal town of Cascais, near Lisbon, Fernando is a realist landscape painter whose work is deeply inspired by light, atmosphere and the natural beauty of the places he paints.

Drawing and painting have been lifelong interests, and after retirement Fernando was able to devote himself more fully to his artistic practice. He studied drawing and painting at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes in Lisbon and later continued his training in Barcelona under the Catalan realist painter Xavier Moreno Prats. In recent years, he has further developed his skills through workshops with internationally recognised artists, including Marc Dalessio, Jenny Aitkens, Arantza Martinez, Magi Puig and Marc Folly.

Fernando works primarily in oils, focusing on landscapes and coastal scenes. His paintings are rooted in direct observation and seek to capture the changing qualities of light and atmosphere. He draws particular inspiration from artists such as Joaquín Sorolla, William Merritt Chase and the painters of Skagen, whose work reflects a similar appreciation for natural light and realism.
